Strawberry ‘All Star’ Junebearing

Strawberry ‘Allstar’ is the largest midseason strawberry with that deliciously sweet flavor! It only takes about ten berries to fill a quart basket. The glossy, firm fruit, which holds its size well, is an excellent u-pick or home garden choice. The plants are vigorous, hardy, and easy to grow. The foliage is dense and lasts well into the winter, making an excellent ground cover.

To enjoy Strawberry ‘Allstar’ fresh from the garden, begin by setting plants out as early as possible in the spring. Allow the runners to form a mat 15 to 18″ wide with the runner plants spaced 4 to 6″ apart. Cover plants with straw or leaves for winter production after the temperature has fallen to about 20° F. Remove covering in the spring once growth begins. Pinch June-bearing plants until flowering ceases in early summer and expect a bountiful harvest the following spring. After the second bearing season, it is advisable to replant the bed.

Planting/Care Instructions +

Planting Instructions: Soak plants in water a few minutes before planting. May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is level with the soil surface and water thoroughly. Apply fertilizer after growth begins. Best grown in organically rich, medium wet, well-drained soils in full sun. Strawberries are a high maintenance food crop which can be grown throughout the United States.

Pests or Diseases: Allstar' has good disease resistance. Allstar's vigor and resistance to red stele, verticillium wilt, moderate resistance to powdery mildew and leaf scorch, makes it suitable to almost any growing region and soil condition.
