Hosta ‘Minuteman’

‘Minuteman’ Hosta is a stunning variety with dark green cupped and wavey leaves surrounded by a white margin. ‘Minuteman’s foliage has good substance. This variety of Hosta, also known as Funkia or Plantain Lily, has pale lavender flowers and is one of the most popular white margined hostas.

Hostas are excellent additions to shady gardens and borders! They add color and texture and pair well with many perennials. Hostas are ideal for a specimen plant, border, edging, or woodland setting. They perform well in the sun but prefer a shady location. The plant may be divided every few years or left undisturbed indefinitely.

Planting/Care Instructions +

Moisture: Water your hostas well immediately as you plant them. Give them water regularly during their first one or two growing season.

Planting Instructions: May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the eyes (tender white or purple swelling protruding from the crown area) are about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly. Hostas grow slowly and may take 2 to 5 years to reach their full size, longer for the largest species and cultivars. Reserve a plenty of space in your perennial bed for hostas. Most of them are medium sized or large perennials.

Pests or Diseases: Hostas are almost fully disease and pest resistant. The most dangerous injury can be caused by slugs, snails and deer.
