Geranium (Hardy Geranium or Crane’s Bill) ‘sanguineum’

Geranium ‘sanguineum’ is a beautiful fine, dark-green groundcover-like plant with ferny foliage and deep magenta-pink flowers. It is not invasive and it needs absolutely no care, and it just keeps blooming. Who could ask for more from any plant? You can’t beat this one for anywhere you’d like a low permanent cover and constant color.

Suggested uses: ‘sanguineum’ is a charming British native wildflower, perfect for the well behaved flowering ground cover. Their fine fresh green foliage makes a good summer-long background for the mallow-like flowers. Grow under a very light canopy of well-spaced shrubs or roses, among taller perennials in a cottage garden, or towards the front of a border. It is also ideal for wild gardens and on banks. Plants self-seed, but this can give rise to some interesting mongrels where several geranium species are grown together.
