Clematis ‘Rhapsody’ adds an elegant touch to the garden with its sapphire blue petals and golden stamens. It is easy to grow and has broad pointed petals surrounded by medium green foliage. These beautiful blooms typically grow to be approximately 4-5” across in size and deepen in color with age. This clematis is a hardy and compact deciduous shrub, suitable for pots and containers. Due to its climbing growth habit, it may also be used to cover a trellis or fence and would be lovely in a cottage garden.

Clematis can be slow to start but will grow quickly once established. They attract a variety of pollinators, including hummingbirds, but are typically deer resistant. Planting Instructions: Choose a site with moist well-drained soil, such as a clay or loam soil, in full sun. This clematis will tolerate some shade, but its best color is obtained in full sun. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly. Plant in the spring when the soil is workable. Be sure to keep the roots cool and shaded. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead or weak steams.
