Planting/Care Instructions +

Planting Instructions: Choose a location with full sun and average, well-drained soil. It will do best with at least 4 to 6 hours of sun a day. However, it can grow in poor soil if it drains well. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is level with the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly. Be sure to keep it watered during peak heat or drought. Remove spent flower spikes and deadhead wilting flowers. In early spring, cut plants back to the ground to promote new growth. Then, apply a thin layer of compost and 2 to 4 inches of mulch to retain moisture and control weeds.

Pests or Diseases: No serious insect or disease problems; however, watch for spider mites. In the South, nematodes can be troublesome. Buddleia are deer resistant.
